How much is my story worth?

This is a crucial question and My Story Media can help get a quick answer. The first thing to establish is whether your story has the potential to be published ie, will the general public take an interest? Once that key test is passed, we will determine how much demand there will be for the story and whether it’s possible to start a bidding war. If the answer to this last question is yes, it is likely the interview fee will be significant.

How much do stories sell for?

The simple answer is between £200 and £10,000. The mainstream media has seen its profits decimated by the internet and social media, where people expect to receive content for free. This has resulted in budgets being significantly reduced in the past decade. That said, big fees are still there for the right story and we have helped negotiate fees as high as £25,000 in recent years.

Can I tell my story and remain anonymous?

Absolutely. We regularly handle and sell stories from anonymous sources and we do not reveal their identity to anyone – not even the editor buying the story and certainly not to an inquisitive third party – without permission.

Will I need to pay you a fee? No. In most cases, we ask the publisher - not you - to pay a small broker’s fee. In this way, My Story Media operates much like a mortgage broker offering independent advice.
